Long Beach Expo Kicks Off 2019 Show Year with Legendary Exhibits, Celebrity Autograph Sessions, Live Auctions and More

Leading collectibles show wraps up first show of 2019 and returns to Long Beach June 6-8, 2019

Long Beach, Calif. – Feb. 6, 2019 – The Long Beach Expo (LBE), the leading coin, currency, stamp and sports collectible show, concluded its first show of the year taking place Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2019, which featured a limited coin release from the United States Mint, one of the first gold coins struck in the U.S., live auctions from the world's largest collectibles auctioneer, Heritage Auctions, celebrity autograph sessions, and much more.

"Our Jan-Feb 2019 expo was one for the books," said Taryn Warrecker, show coordinator of the Long Beach Expo.  "From the legendary 1787 Brasher Doubloon and New York Coppers exhibit to the U.S. Mint's limited coin release and live auctions with Heritage Auctions, the unique attractions were enjoyed by expo attendees of all collecting interests."

Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2019 show highlights included:

  • Live auctions from the official auctioneer of the Long Beach Expo: Heritage Auctions
    • The world's largest collectibles auctioneer, Heritage Auctions, hosted its Signature Auctions live at the expo, featuring its U.S. Coins Signature Auctions.  To learn more about Heritage Auctions and its auction schedule, visit Heritage Auctions.

  • The United States Mint limited coin release
    • The U.S. Mint debuted its limited Preamble to the Declaration of Independence Platinum Proof Coin, the second coin in the series of three coins named Life, Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness.  To learn more, visit the U.S. Mint.

  • The Legendary 1787 Brasher Doubloon and New York Coppers exhibit
    • Displayed at the expo, the 1787 Brasher Doubloon was one of the first gold coins struck in the U.S. There are only seven Brasher Doubloons known to be in existence and it is widely recognized to be one of the most important rarities in American numismatics.  This display also featured seven elite New York copper pieces, among the finest known of their kinds with impressive pedigrees to collections by famous numismatists of the past.

  • West Coast debut of award-winning "Mr. Perfection 13” Morgan Dollar Proof Set exhibit
    • One of the finest known Morgan Dollar Proof Sets made its West Coast debut at the expo and featured the award-winning 27-coin Morgan Dollar basic proof set that is 100 percent complete with a PCGS Set Registry rating of 69.47.

  • Autograph Pavilion with legendary NFL Raiders pro
    • Raiders all-time sack leader, Greg Townsend was on-site for fan meet and greets.  Autographs and memorabilia were available for purchase.

  • LCG Signatures presents Tinker Bell and Boo
    • Margaret Kerry, best known for her work as the model for Tinker Bell in Disney's animated feature Peter Pan, and Mary Gibbs, best known for her work as the voice actor for Boo from Pixar's Monster's Inc., were on-site for fan meet and greets.  Autographs and memorabilia were available for purchase.

Additional show highlights include PCGS on-site grading and "Meet the Expert" Sessions with PCGS president Brett Charville, PSA show grading, free kids treasure hunt, Memory Lane Inc.'s "Meet the Expert" sport sessions, and more.

The Long Beach Expo will return June 6-8, 2019 for its second show of the year.  The June 2019 show will open to the public on Thursday, June 6 at 10 a.m. and will close on Saturday, June 8 at 5 p.m.  Show hours below:
