Overseas Visitors Come to Long Beach

In additional to Southern California area residents and visitors from across the United States, collectors and dealers from Canada, China, England and Russia also attended the successful May 29 - 31, 2008 Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo.

"Wang Jinrong, the Chairman of the Board of the Shanghai Mint, personally came to the show with several staff members who set up a table.  He said they had a very good show, introducing and selling new silver and gold coins they produced in China," said Ronald J. Gillio, Expo General Chairman.

"There were also about a dozen investors and dealers who attended from Russia, as well as dealers and collectors from England, Spain, Japan, Venezuela, Argentina and others from Canada.  A film crew from Russia was also at the show to video tape segments about the Long Beach Expo for a future television program in Russia."

The auctions of U.S. and world coins and paper money by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas, Texas generated over $26.5 million in winning bids.

Monaco Rare Coins of Newport Beach, California displayed a virtually complete 150-coin date and mintmark collection of Types I, II and III Liberty Head Double Eagles from 1850 to 1907.  Valued at $6.5 million, this was the first public exhibit of the set that was assembled over two decades by a private collector.

The next Long Beach Expo will be held September 18 - 20, 2008 in the Long Beach, California Convention Center.  For additional information, call (805) 962-9939 or visit online www.LongBeachShow.com.
