(Long Beach, California) – The Long Beach Expo saw its most-attended September show in years as thousands of collectors converged in Southern California for the third of three shows held this year honoring the 60th anniversary of the convention. First held in 1964, the Long Beach Expo – widely known as The Collectibles Show – brings together collectors and dealers who buy, sell, and trade coins, banknotes, sports cards and memorabilia, Funko Pops!, and many other collectible items.

“The Long Beach Expo is a tradition in Southern California, and the September show has a reputation of closing out the summer season for collectors,” explained PCGS President Stephanie Sabin. “Many collectors save up their summer collecting budgets to visit the show and make important purchases, and dealers were telling me about how much buying was going on at this show.”

Sabin added that the number of onsite submissions for third-party encapsulation at the PCGS booth as well as PSA were robust. “Some of the busiest spots on the bourse floor were at the PCGS and PSA Submission Lounges,” Sabin noted. “After nearly 40 years as the nation’s most trusted third-party grading service we’ve learned that no matter the economy, collectors value the peace of mind in getting their valuables authenticated and encapsulated. This also helps them maximize the value of their collectibles when the time comes to sell.”

PCGS Director of Events Samantha Dark noted a solid 26% increase in attendance at the September 2024 Long Beach Expo from last September. “We also saw the highest number of attendees at the September show since 2019,” she remarked. “I think it speaks to the continued strength of the collectibles market across the board. And as we look to the last months of 2024 and ahead to 2025, we’re already planning for the next Long Beach Expo, which will be held February 20-22, 2025. We’ve got some exciting things in store for that first big West Coast show of the year, so stay tuned!”
