Professional Coin Grading Service will display a complete 21-coin set of the curious 1888-O Hot Lips (VAM-4) variety Morgan dollars in every known grade from Poor-1 to Mint State-61. The variety is nicknamed Hot Lips because of significant doubling of Miss Liberty’s lips, nose and chin. The grading set was assembled by Greensboro, North Carolina dealer, Ash Harrison, President of the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors.
A timely seminar, “Precious Metals Markets,” will be presented by PNG member-dealer Richard Nachbar of Williamsville, New York at Noon on Friday, May 30. Nachbar predicts gold and silver prices are “undoubtedly going higher.” A complimentary light lunch will be available for audience members at the Share the Knowledge seminar. A half dozen other seminars and club meetings also will be conducted during the three-day show.
More than 1,000 dealers will be buying and selling rare coins, paper money, stamps, postcards, historic documents, antiques, estate jewelry and other collectibles. Some dealers will provide free, informal appraisals for visitors. Young numismatists’ activities, including a children’s treasure hunt, will be held on Saturday, May 31. A free gold coin door prize will be awarded each day to a lucky, registered visitor.
The public hours are Thursday and Friday, May 29 and 30, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. (The show is closed on Sunday.) A complete Schedule of Events is online at www.LongBeachShow.com.
