”The grade point average of the Coronet Collection, 66.38, certainly is impressive when you consider that the Jack Lee Collection, the All-Time Finest Morgan dollar collection in the PCGS Set Registry, is 66.57 out of a possible 67.018,” said PCGS President Don Willis.
“I am blown away at what we accomplished as a team with the Coronet Collector. We had known his life’s passion was Morgans. He is still a Morgan dollar purist. It was never discussed about building a number one Registry set, however, the collector would never want to accept any coins that were not the finest. So we knew our mission. There have been hundreds of coins we passed on over the years,” Sperber explained.
“I can’t thank the owner of the Coronet set enough for allowing us to work with him. He is a pleasure to work with. Helping build the current number one collection of Morgans is something we never thought we could ever do. It wasn’t until we saw the set ranked on the PCGS Registry that we both sat back and said, ‘WOW!'”
